Break Prototyping

During break, I experimented with photo-chromatic pigment, acrylic paint, and fabric medium. As well, I worked on ways to attach fiber-optics to the face of the fabric in order to include illumination in the design. After experimenting with UV led, I concluded that the fiber optics did not emit enough light to visibly shift the pigment underneath. In a dark room, that color shift would not be visible anyway so instead we are planning on using Lillypad neopixels so that we can control the color of light emitted by the design. As well we could include a photo resistor to trigger the illumination in dark spaces. This will allow us to design the jacket for multiple light scenarios and customize what it will look like while being worn.

Here are some of the designs I painted:

Moving forward, we will be painting as a group and working on our own designs simultaneously. We will be ordering more pigments this week.
